About CalcInsure
Free insurance calculators and educational guides for US consumers — no signup, no personal data required.
Our Mission
Insurance is one of the largest recurring household expenses in America — yet most people have no clear way to know if they are overpaying or underinsured. CalcInsure was built to fix that gap with free, transparent tools that give real estimates without requiring your personal information or connecting you to sales agents.
Every calculator on this site is based on actuarial data, state DOI filings, and publicly available insurer rate filings. We update our data sources at least twice per year to reflect current market conditions.
Editorial Team
Our editorial team includes licensed insurance educators, former insurance adjusters, and financial journalists with combined experience spanning consumer insurance, actuarial research, and personal finance media. All articles undergo a factual review process before publication.
Our Methodology
Our calculators use a blend of the following data inputs:
- NAIC rate data — National Association of Insurance Commissioners publicly filed rate information by state
- Insurance Information Institute (III) — industry-wide premium averages and loss ratios
- State Department of Insurance filings — approved rate tables for major carriers in each state
- Actuarial life tables — SOA (Society of Actuaries) mortality tables for life insurance premium estimates
- Consumer Financial Protection Bureau — complaint data and market concentration reports
Estimates produced by our tools represent national and regional averages and will differ from actual quotes. Rates vary significantly by carrier, ZIP code, driving record, credit history, and individual underwriting criteria.
Our Tools
- Car Insurance Estimator — estimates by state, coverage level, age, credit, and vehicle year. Based on NAIC and III data.
- Life Insurance Calculator — term life monthly premium by age, gender, health class, and coverage amount. Based on SOA actuarial tables.
Editorial Standards
- We do not accept payment to feature, rank, or recommend any specific insurance carrier.
- Our content is reviewed for factual accuracy before publication and updated when regulations or market data change.
- When we link to third-party sources, we choose authoritative, non-commercial resources (government agencies, academic institutions, major industry organizations).
- Articles are dated and marked with a "Last Updated" date so readers know the currency of the information.
